Gaithersburg High School transforms into undersea wonderland for annual ALO prom

Gaithersburg High School was the proud host of this year’s Alternative Learning Outcomes (ALO) prom on Friday, May 9, welcoming students from across Montgomery County to a night that shimmered like an undersea wonderland. The event was a celebration for students of Albert Einstein, Sherwood, Springbrook, Wheaton and Watkins Mill high schools.
The school’s gym was transformed with handmade decorations crafted by the students, bringing the “Under the Sea” theme to life with color, creativity and care. Bubbles, sea creatures and ocean hues set the stage for an unforgettable celebration.
The students arrived dressed to impress and beaming with excitement. Staff from the participating schools joined the festivities, and many parents stayed to share the joy alongside their children.
The evening came together through a collaborative effort involving students, parents, and faculty, with key leadership from Gaithersburg’s resource teacher for special education, Sarah McKinley, and Student Government Association President Nilda Keres, whose guidance helped bring the event to life.
With music, dancing and plenty of smiles, the ALO prom offered a joyful, inclusive space for students to celebrate together — a night to remember under the sea.
