Employee Benefits to Continue Through September 30, 2025, for 10-month Employees Retiring July 1, August 1, or September 1, 2025

Montgomery County Public Schools 10-month employees who retire on July 1, August 1, or September 1, 2025, will maintain their employee benefits coverage through September 30, 2025. This is the date through which their benefits have been prepaid. If retiring 10-month employees opt to enroll in the MCPS retiree benefits plan, that retiree coverage will go into effect on October 1, 2025.
Those July 1, 2025, retirees who are eligible for Medicare benefits will not need to begin the Medicare enrollment process until July 1, 2025, which is three months prior to the October 1 Medicare effective date. In mid- to late June 2025, the Employee and Retiree Service Center (ERSC) will mail all required documents to Medicare-eligible retirees and/or their dependents so they may begin the process of enrolling in Medicare Parts A & B.
Perhaps you plan to continue benefits coverage in the retiree benefits plan and wish to change your elections effective on October 1, 2025. In that case, you will need to complete MCPS Form 455-22R, Retiree Benefit Plan Enrollment for New Retirees Only and submit it to ERSC as instructed on the form.
