MCPS Athletics - Get Involved!

MCPS Athletics wants you to GET INVOLVED!  Even if you don’t play sports, opportunities are open to be managers, scorekeepers, photographers, etc. Please reach out to your school’s Athletic Coordinator (Middle School) or Athletic Director (High School).  

Winter Interscholastic Athletics Registration

Middle School

Middle School sports registration for winter girls’ or boys’ basketball opens October 27, 2025 at 12 noon.  

High School

High Schools offer the following winter sports:  boys’ and girls’ basketball, bocce, cheerleading, boys’ and girls’ indoor track, boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving, and wrestling.  Registration opens October 13, 2025.

Student-Athlete Leadership Council

The 2025-2026 Student-Athlete Leadership Council held the annual Kickoff Meeting on September 9, 2025. Student-athletes from all 25 MCPS high schools were represented at this meeting. SALC provides student voice regarding the administration of the MCPS interscholastic athletics program. The SALC theme of the year is “WeRAISELegends”. #WeRAISE

Cross Country – 10/18, at Bohrer Park, 10:50 a.m

 Field Hockey – 10/21, at Albert Einstein HS, 6:00 pm

 Flag Football – 10/27, at Thomas S. Wootton HS, 6:00 pm

Soccer – 10/20 at Seneca Valley HS 

  • Boys’ 5:30 p.m. 
  • Girls’ 7:15 p.m.

Pickleball – 10/23, at Walter Johnson HS, 4:15 p.m. (finals)

Cheerleading – 10/25, at Montgomery Blair HS:

  • Division III – 10:30 a.m.
  • Division II – 2:30 p.m.
  • Division I – 6:00 p.m.

Girls’ Volleyball – 10/27, at Quince Orchard HS, 6:00 p.m.
