SMOB Candidate Filing Period Open January 5 - 29, 2026

Students interested in running for the Student Member of the Board of Education position may begin filing their nominations starting January 5, 2026 – January 29, 2026 at 5:00 PM.  Eligibility requirements for students to run for the Student Member of the Board of Education are:

  • Must be a current Grade 10 or Grade 11 student
  • Enrolled in an MCPS high school
  • Resident of Montgomery County, Maryland

Candidate nomination forms can be found on Pages 41 - 43 of the SMOB Election Protocols. Completed forms should be completed, scanned, and emailed to Mrs. Shella Cherry, Director, Student Leadership & Activities at: Shella_B_Cherry@mcpsmd.org.
