Johnathan M. Dunn is a
general/choral educator and restorative justice coach at Sherwood High School, and has been an educator for more
than 20 years in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). In addition to Sherwood
High School, he has taught at Cabin John Middle School, Francis Scott Key
Middle School, James Hubert Blake High School, Earle B. Wood Middle School, and
Northwood High School.
As the MCPS Teacher of the Year, Mr. Dunn will
now be the MCPS nominee for the 2022-2023 Maryland State Teacher of Year award.
County Teacher of the Year Award honors a full-time Pre-kindergarten/Head Start through Grade 12 teacher who has a demonstrated record of high academic
expectations for all students, engaging students of all backgrounds and
abilities, contributing to a positive school culture, and connecting with the
school community. The Montgomery County Teacher of the Year goes on to
represent Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) as the MCPS nominee for the
Maryland State Teacher of the Year award.
2023 Award Details
Nominations for the Montgomery County Teacher of the Year are now being acepted. The deadline for submission is midnight, December 16, 2022.
