Accelerated and Enriched Instruction  Elementary Programs  PADI

Program of Assessment, Diagnosis and Instruction (PADI)

Early Recognition of Potential: PADI

The overall goal of PADI is to recognize and nurture intellectual potential among students most frequently overlooked because of socioeconomic, cultural, and/or linguistic differences. The focus of this program is to:

  • To plan and implement instructional practices that nurture critical and creative thinking in the lower elementary grades.

This focus addresses the following questions:

  • How can potential be recognized early, especially among culturally diverse students?
  • How can the academic skills and thinking strategies of these students be refined and extended so that a significant number of them will be recognized as needing accelerated and enriched instruction and be provided with challenge and support that allow for success?
