2022‒2023 School Year

Districtwide Compliance Training

Dear Colleagues:

Montgomery County Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and welcoming learning and working environment for students and staff across our district. To fulfill this commitment, all staff are required to complete the annual Districtwide Compliance Training for the 2022-2023 school year. This training is designed to ensure that every employee has the necessary information to establish and maintain a positive, safe, healthy, and lawful climate and culture in which all adults and students are able to thrive and do their best work.

This year, certain modules have been combined and there is a new module on restorative justice to help our employees to fully understand the implications for MCPS as an official Restorative Justice school district.

The mandatory training consists of 10 online modules designed to be completed within one-half day. Topics include:

  • preventing, recognizing, and reporting child abuse and neglect,
  • employee code of conduct,
  • bullying, harassment (including sexual harassment) and intimidation prevention,
  • religious diversity,
  • and other important issues.

While some of these modules may appear familiar, many have been modified for the upcoming school year. The pre-assessment format for six of the modules are for returning employees. Successful completion of the questions on the pre-assessment will be awarded completion of the module without further action necessary. Portions of the content have been revised based on changes in federal, state, and local compliance requirements. A refreshed design, interactivity, user engagement, as well as multiple resources are new and added features available with each module. Newly hired employees will need to complete all 10 modules without the option of a pre-assessment format.

Based on your MCPS position you may be required to complete job-specific trainings that are separate and in addition to the districtwide compliance modules. Your principal or supervisor will notify you of these requirements. The mandatory compliance training requirement by employee associations is as follows:
