About Natalie Zimmerman

Natalie Zimmerman is a dedicated and passionate educator who believes in the power of education to transform lives. Elected in 2024 to represent District 2 on the Board of Education, Ms. Zimmerman brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to her community, and a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in education.

Ms. Zimmerman’s professional journey has been rooted in the classroom, where she has served as a teacher for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) at Summit Hall Elementary and Wheaton Woods Elementary. She is certified to teach general elementary education, special education, middle-grade English Language Arts, and English Language Development. With a background in Political Science, International Studies, Gender, and Health (BA) and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education (MA), both from the University of Michigan, she has a unique perspective on how education intersects with social issues and community development.

As an educator,Ms. Zimmerman believes every day in education is critical, as each student only has one opportunity to experience each grade-level. She views her work on the Board of Education as an essential part of supporting both students and staff in their growth and success. “Our students and staff require committed and passionate decision-makers to support them,” she says. “I am proud to be one of those decision-makers.”

Outside of her professional career, Ms. Zimmerman is deeply involved in service and volunteer work. She has coached over ten seasons of Girls on the Run, inspiring young girls to develop confidence and leadership skills. Additionally, she has volunteered as a coach for the science club during recess, nurturing students’ curiosity and love for learning. Ms. Zimmerman has also served as a volunteer presenter for New Educator Orientation, sharing her insights with new teachers entering the field.

Ms. Zimmerman’s commitment to service extends beyond education as well. She is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, an organization that has played a key role in her life and in shaping her values of leadership and service.

When she’s not focused on education and community service, Ms. Zimmerman enjoys her hobbies, which include a love for dinosaurs, dogs, and desserts.

Ms. Zimmerman is honored to serve District 2 on the Board of Education, and she is dedicated to advocating for policies and decisions that ensure all students receive a high-quality education and have the support they need to thrive.
