About the PTA

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to welcome you to Wheaton Woods Elementary School. The PTA at Wheaton Woods is an active one. It supports school programs, assists staff, represents our school’s interests in county issues, represents the needs of the parents and students, and works to maintain a strong community environment.

We cordially invite you to join our PTA. Please be either a participant or an observer, but not a stranger. Parental involvement helps make better schools and benefits all our children. The PTA meets virtually each third Tuesday of each month. However, school closings may change the day. Please review the calendar for any changes. Your presence, ideas, comments and questions are most welcome.

By organizing fundraisers during the year, the PTA is able to provide financial assistance for:

  • fifth grade end of year activities
  • several in-school cultural arts performances for all students
  • staff appreciation luncheon and annual gifts
  • safety patrols
  • field trips
  • instructional materials

In addition, PTA volunteers help:

  • in the Media Center/classrooms
  • arrange volunteers to help in the classrooms or outside of the classrooms as needed by the teachers
  • organize evening social events
  • co-host Winter Wonderland

We encourage EVERYONE, families, teachers and staff to get involved at Wheaton Woods. By spending only $10.00* to become a member of the PTA, you can help financially support our many activities. We welcome your attendance at all school functions, and hope you share your ideas and talents in support of our children at Wheaton Woods. We look forward to your involvement. We have all kinds of needs, so even if your job keeps you from volunteering time during the day, there are other ways you can become involved and help out!

Imagination Library of Wheaton Woods Elementary School PTA is being sponsored by the Children’s Opportunity Fund. Your child will get a FREE, brand new, age-appropriate book in the mail once each month until they turn 5. You can enroll your children from the time they are born until they turn 5. Two out of the 12 books that your child gets each year will be English and Spanish bilingual books.


We are doing this because we know that reading to young children is so very important. We know that you and your children form an important bond when you read together. This also helps children get ready for kindergarten. If you are unable to read the words in the stories, don't worry. You can still enjoy the books by making up a story about the pictures!
