Welcome to The Wheaton Woods Way

August 10, 2026

Dear Wheaton Woods Families, Caregivers & Community Partners,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! Each August brings new possibilities—new relationships, new goals, new learning and new opportunities to grow. While each year brings change, what remains constant is who we are, what we believe and how we care for one another.

That is The Wheaton Woods Way.

For those who are new to our community, I am Ms. Collins, proud yet humbled Principal of Wheaton Woods Elementary School. My nearly three decades in education—as a teacher, instructional leader, administrator, parent leader and community advocate—have shaped what I believe about children and schools.

I believe every child deserves to be known, valued, challenged, supported and loved. Families deserve to be heard and respected. Our many cultures strengthen our community.Strong relationships, paired with high expectations, create the conditions for children to thrive.

These beliefs are captured in our motto:

Every person counts. Every moment matters.

At Wheaton Woods, our work is grounded in six pillars that make up The Wheaton Woods Way:

Academic Excellence • Whole Child Supports • Belonging, Inclusion & Culture • Student Leadership & Voice • Family & Community Partnerships • Continuous Improvement

Together, these pillars reflect our commitment to educating the whole child while ensuring that every student has access to the opportunities, relationships and support needed to reach their fullest potential.

As Principal, I remain committed to being visible, accessible and responsive while leading through four commitments: Connect, Create, Cultivate and Elevate. You will see me in classrooms, hallways, family events and throughout our community—listening, learning, celebrating and continually asking, “How can we get better for our children?”

Our 2026–2027 theme is Mission: Possible! It reflects our belief that when students, staff, families and community partners work together, extraordinary things are possible.

Every student has potential.
Every family has a voice.
Every culture enriches us.
Every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
Every day is another opportunity to make a difference.

Whether you have been part of our Wildcat Family for years or are joining us for the first time, welcome!

Here’s to another year of learning, belonging, growing and achieving—The Wheaton Woods Way.

Highest Regards,
Ms. Nora E. Collins, M.Ed.
