Assistant Principal's message
Dear Wheaton Woods Community,
Hello! My name is Leah Levy and I am honored to serve the Wheaton Woods Community as your new Assistant Principal. I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know all staff, students, and families in our community. I began my career with MCPS 22 years ago as a 1st grade teacher. I then went on to teach 2nd and 3rd grades and later served as a staff development teacher before becoming an Assistant Principal. I'm entering my tenth year as an assistant principal.
As the Assistant Principal of our vibrant elementary school, I am proud to lead with a steadfast commitment to our vision of being a welcoming community of lifelong learners where every culture is nurtured and every child feels safe. Grounded in our mission, I strive to cultivate a trauma-informed, inclusive school environment that celebrates diversity, fosters curiosity, and upholds high expectations for all. I believe that every person counts and every moment matters—which is why I work in close partnership with staff, students, and families to create meaningful, lasting impact. Guided by this year’s theme—Lights, Camera, Action!—I help shine the light on what matters most: collective efficacy, equitable and research-based instruction, and a shared belief in our students’ boundless potential. With a clear focus on data and instructional priorities, I support teams in capturing and amplifying progress, ensuring that our actions translate into growth, opportunity, and success for every learner.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Gordon, especially when we’re traveling—our favorite destination is anywhere with a beach, but the Caribbean holds a special place in our hearts. I’m a former marathon runner who now enjoys long walks and yoga to stay active. We share our home with a spoiled little fur baby named Archie, who keeps us on our toes and brings lots of joy. I grew up in a small town in western Pennsylvania and always look forward to visiting family there—especially during football season. Go Steelers!
I’m so honored to serve the Wheaton Woods community and can’t wait to connect with each of you. Here’s to a brand new school year filled with partnership, possibility, and purpose. I look forward to all we’ll accomplish together—and I’m beyond excited to be a Wildcat. Let’s make it a great year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Leah Levy
