Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS)

FACS Philosophy

FACS content is guided by the National Standards for Family and Consumer Sciences. FACS is best experienced through life and work situations that place skills and knowledge in the context where effort based performance must be demonstrated, and a problem must be solved. FACS incorporates a variety of interdisciplinary principles. Reading, writing, scientific principles, and math are an integral part of instruction and are used for the purpose of making connections between assessments, concepts, and laboratory experiences. Appropriate technology is used to access and process information, form conclusions and communicate results.
