Herbert Hoover Middle school has had the privilege of partnering with the National Alliance of Mental Illness, NAMI, to bring Sources of Strength to our community this school year. In an effort to support the work they do and to celebrate Hoover's Sources of Strength program, we encourage families to participate in the 2019 NAMIWalks event!!Become a NAMIWalks Hero. Choose Respect Montgomery 2019 Conference and Public Service Annoucement Contest
MCPS and the office of Student and Family Support and Engagement will host the Choose Respect Montgomery 2019 Conference. This important event will be held at Richard Montgomery High School on Sunday, April 7, 20219 from 12:30-4:30 pm. The Choose Respect Montgomery event provides middle and high school students with information about healthy and unhealthy relationships, tips t help a friend, and available resources to get help in the event of trauma. As part of the effort to address youth violence, MCPS is offering two programs called "Coaching Boys into Men" and "athletes as Leaders." These sessions will equip coaches to teach their athletes about respectful engagement with others on and of the field. Coaches also will review strategies, scenarios, and resources used to teach student athletes about healthy and respectful relationships. A PSA video contest is another opportunity for students to share their ideas by creating a 6o-second video about dating violence. Click here for more information
School-based Flu Clinics
Has your child received a flu shot yet? If your child is between the ages of 3 and 18 years, make an appointment for your child to receive a free flu shot at John F. Kennedy, Northwest, or Rockville high schools on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, from 1:30–4:30 p.m. by visiting the Montgomery County Government website at www.MontgomeryCountyMD.gov or calling 311. #FightFlu.
