HHMS Athletics Program
2024-2025 School Year
The middle school interscholastic athletics program is available for students in seventh, and eighth grade and consists of three sport seasons, including fall (cross country and softball), winter (basketball), and spring (soccer). All students participating in the fall season, as part of the MCPS interscholastic athletics program, must complete the online registration process. Announcements will be made in school when registration opens for each season. Students and parents/guardians who have difficulty with registration should contact the Athletic Coordinator Laura Hamilton Laura_M_Hamilton@mcpsmd.org.
Registration
PRE-PARTICIPATION PHYSICAL FOR ATHLETICS
The Pre-Participation Physical for Athletics is a form that needs to be completed by a doctor in order to participate in tryouts and is completely different from immunization records that are given to the school health room. This form is good for two years. Each student needs to have a copy of this uploaded in the online registration before tryouts. Paper copies will not be accepted. This form is also linked in the online registration form and should be uploaded there. Please have the physical done and ready to upload BEFORE you register. PAPER COPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
TRYOUT INFORMATION:
Equipment needed for tryouts:
Softball: glove and cleats
Basketball: athletic shoes/shorts/t-shirt
Soccer: cleats, own ball is optional
PRACTICE DATES
All practices are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:10 - 4:10. The ONLY exception is boys’ and girls’ basketball which will rotate on a weekly basis from 3:10 - 4:10 and 4:10 - 5:10 due to only having one gym. Activity buses are available starting early October. For the fall season, students will need transportation to and from practices for the beginning of the season.

HHMS Intramurals Program
The middle school intramural program is an extension of the physical education instructional program, including the development of movement skills, health-related fitness, and personal and social responsibility. It is conducted before and/or after school among students at Hoover school. It is open to all students.
Intramurals Coordinator: Stephen Jung
The weightlifting intramural will start on Tuesday 11/7 and meet Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 7:45.
