Grade 5: Meet the Teachers

Angela Bailey, 5th grade teacher, Team Leader
I'm so happy to be starting another year at CCES, and I can't wait for a year filled with learning, discovering, and fun! I’ve had a diverse and rewarding journey as an educator, teaching students from preschoolers to adult learners. I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins University and am a National Board Certified Teacher. Outside of school, you can find me reading, crafting, cycling, and exploring new things and places. I'm also a big fan of theater and love imponderables. Most of all, I cherish spending time with my friends and family, especially my daughters and my dog, Paisley.
Savanna Crist, 5th grade teacher
Hey there! I am from the Eastern Shore of Maryland in a very small town, and recently moved to Montgomery County to become a part of the amazing community. I attended Salisbury University and received my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I began my college journey as an English major, and this was my favorite subject when I was in school. I want to share my passion with my students! I’m a huge plant lover, I build LEGOS and collect different varieties of butterflies on my spare time, and I have a sweet cat at home named Scarlet! I can’t wait for what this year brings!
Chu Eunice Chu, 5th grade teacher, Center for Enriched Studies
I came to CCES in 1994 fresh out of graduate school and originally taught 3rd grade. Since then, I've also been an instructional specialist and the science lab teacher at the school. In 2010, I joined the Center for Enriched Studies and haven't looked back! My undergraduate degree is in Accounting, and I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Master of Education in Education Policy and Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum Theory and Development.  Apart from teaching, I love exploring new places, hiking, kayaking, gardening and spending time with my family, and I never refuse sushi, ramen or chocolate chip cookies.
Granados Ashley Granados, 5th grade teacher
Hello! After receiving my bachelor's degree in elementary education from University of Maryland in 2011, I began my teaching journey. I have had the pleasure teaching  2nd, 3rd, 4th grade. While teaching, I obtained my master’s degree in elementary mathematics and reading from Walden University in 2016. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading the next book-turned-movie or a twisty thriller, making memories with friends and family, and rewatching my favorite comfort movies and television shows. I am excited for my year at CCES and can't wait to make long lasting memories.

Luster Josephine Luster, 5th grade teacher, Center for Enriched Studies
I grew up in New Jersey and moved to Maryland after graduating from the University of Maryland.  Go Terps!  I was a fourth grade teacher before I joined CCES's Center program in 2006.   I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction and earned National Board Certification in the area of literacy.  In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing piano, traveling, and spending time with my husband and our two children.  I truly love learning and sharing that love with my students.
Diana Viereck, 5th grade teacher
I was born and raised in Montgomery County, MD, and even went to nearby Seven Locks ES, Cabin John MS, and Churchill HS! I've been a teacher since 2012, and have taught 5th grade for the last few years. On the weekends you'll find me running the Capital Crescent Trail, eating burritos and Korean food, or trying to wrangle my 3 kids into spending time with me and my husband.  I feel super lucky to be joining the CCES family, and growing roots in the community.
