Grade 4: Meet the Teachers

Amanda Cheatham, 4th grade teacher, Center for Enriched Studies
I am so excited to be teaching at Chevy Chase! I got my master's degree in teaching from Johns Hopkins University and my undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego in Political Science and Communication. I have three beautiful children that also attend MCPS schools. I am a huge animal lover and have a dog and a cat as family members as well. I also foster animals over the summer when I have a little more free time. My favorite activities are reading (I love historical fiction), running, traveling, and just generally being outside. I'm looking forward to a great year!

Hello! After receiving my bachelor's degree in elementary education from University of Maryland in 2011, I began my teaching journey. I have had the pleasure teaching  2nd, 3rd, 4th grade. While teaching, I obtained my master’s degree in elementary mathematics and reading from Walden University in 2016. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading the next book-turned-movie or a twisty thriller, making memories with friends and family, and rewatching my favorite comfort movies and television shows. I am excited for my year at CCES and can't wait to make long lasting memories.

I’m originally from Pennsylvania and moved to this area in 2006 to start my teaching career in MCPS.  I have my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Penn State and a Master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University.  I have taught in grades 2-5 and absolutely love being a part of the Chevy Chase community!  I currently live in Bethesda and enjoy walking around town.  When I’m not teaching, you can find me exercising, traveling, watching college football, reading, catching up on the latest movies and spending time with my family and friends.

It is my great pleasure to be a member of the creative and supportive CCES community. I am entering my 3rd decade working with kids. Previously I taught all subjects in 3rd through 5th grade. My undergraduate degree is in History from NYU and I received my Masters from Santa Clara University. My wife and I have two wonderful kids and two cats. When I am not teaching, I love sports, reading, musicals, and spending time outdoors.
