Candlewood Elementary School opened as a new state-of-the-art facility in January 2015. Integrated technology throughout the new school provides innovative educational opportunities for the student population.The staff, students, and community embrace the technological advances while maintaining the academic standards and principles expected by the community Candlewood serves.
The school received the prestigious U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Schools award for academic excellence in 1992 and has maintained its strong academic program over the past 18 years.
In addition to Candlewood’s excellent academic program, the school prides itself on its exceptional art, music, and physical education classes, providing students the opportunity to showcase their visual, choral, instrumental, athletic, and performing arts talents.
Our school serves students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Students from Candlewood attend Shady Grove Middle School in Grades 6 through 8 and Magruder High School in Grades 9 through 12.
