Additional Activities (These non-MCPS activities are also avaiable to WMS students)

Tennis Programs: Wednesdays. September 24 to November 19. 3:05 pm to 4:20 pm. Click the program title below for more information and registration. Classes are taught by highly experienced RSPA, PTR, USTA certified tennis professionals.

Middle School Tennis: beginner and intermediate level. We use the game-based learning format. A short instructional component followed by games incorporating the technical or tactical components demonstrated at the beginning of each class. The students have FUN, RUN & LEARN. Both doubles and singles play with drill games. Intermediate level students may progress and migrate into the Varsity Futures groupings. Socially, we try to allow friends of different skill levels to be “together”.

Varsity Futures Tennis intermediate and advanced is designed for students aspiring to play on their future high school tennis team. Skill levels are intermediate and advanced, and your child would like to play team matches against other MCPS middle schools. These matches are optional and will be played at North Bethesda MS on Wednesday, Oct. 29 and at Pyle on Thursday October 30, both played from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. There is also an end-of-season tournament for all three middle schools held at Walter Johnson HS on Saturday, November 15th from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Individual trophies awarded and a school plaque with engraved names of competing students to the middle school with best overall record.

IMPORTANT: Make sure your email address on USTA account is one you will not miss time-sensitive messages such as weather-related cancelations!
