The Importance of Diversity

One of our goals as a school district is to recognize & celebrate the diverse identities of our students, staff, and community. MCPS wants to create a safe and inclusive school environment. MCPS wants all students, staff, and community members to have a basic understanding of diverse identities (which can include differences in terms of culture, ethnicity, race, gender expression, and sexual orientation) so they can help build safe, more inclusive schools. As incidents of hate-bias rise across the United States, it is increasingly important for all members of a school community to address these incidents and stop bullying and hate-bias when it occurs.
