Homecoming Week: Monday, October 7 – Friday, October 11

Homecoming is this week, and I want to thank our SGA leaders and sponsors for all of their hard work to prepare.  Students are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing school-appropriate attire aligned with the following daily themes:  Jersey Day on Monday, Twin Day on Tuesday, Disney Day on Thursday, and Class Colors Day on Friday.  Homecoming hallway decorating is this Thursday from 2:30 pm to 9:00 pm, the Homecoming pep rally is Friday during the school day, and the Homecoming football game is this Friday at 7:00 pm against Churchill.

SGA Homecoming Dance: Saturday, October 12

Our annual Homecoming Dance, sponsored by SGA, is Saturday evening, October 12, from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm in the gym.  Tickets are $20 per person and will be sold in the stadium ticket booth during lunch each day this week (with the exception of Wednesday when schools are closed).  If your student wishes to bring a date who does not attend Northwest High School, there is a form available in the main office that must be completed and signed by the other student’s principal prior to purchasing a ticket for that individual (Homecoming Guest Form).  Also, please note that all financial obligations must be cleared before a student will be allowed to purchase a ticket.

  • All students in grade 10 will be taking the PSAT, and the cost is covered by MCPS.

Learner’s Permit Test at Northwest HS: Tuesday, October 15

Northwest is partnering with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) to offer the learner’s permit test at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, in room 100 at Northwest High School.  Interested students must be at least 15 years and 9 months by October 15.  Permission forms may be picked up in the main office and must be returned to the main office no later than this Friday, October 11.  If students pass the test, they will have to travel to an MVA office at a future date to obtain an actual learner’s permit.  However, we offer this service at Northwest approximately once each month to make it more convenient for students to take the test in a familiar environment.  (The next opportunity will be Tuesday, November 5.)  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Barbara Veirs in the Northwest High School Main Office at (301) 601-4660.
