CCES General PTA Meeting

 Monday, October 21st

 Social Hour: 6:30 PM - 7:00 PM

CCES PTA Business: 7:00 PM - 7:15 PM

 Presentation Begins: 7:15 PM

As shown in a recent NY Times article (, the online world is getting increasingly dangerous for kids. At the same time, we know that our kids are going to be online, so we want to help them navigate this world safely. Federal prosecutor Andrea Hertzfeld and FBI agent Timothy Palchak, with the MPD/FBI child exploitation task force, are experts in online child exploitation. They'll be coming to our General PTA meeting on October 21st to share their advice on what dangers are out there and how to keep our kids safe online. The presentation has been offered to many PTA's and other organizations and gets rave reviews.  Please join us for this important presentation.

Given the importance of the topic, we have also invited the North Chevy Chase PTA and the Rock Creek Forest PTA to join us.  Doors will open at 6:30 for a "social hour" either outside on the blacktop (weather permitting) or inside in the hallway to allow parents from the three schools to reconnect and/or get to know each other before moving up to Silver Creek and ultimately BCC. The Chevy Chase PTA will convene right at 7 PM in the All Purpose Room for some short, but important, business.  We will then open the All Purpose Room to all in attendance at 7:15 for our scheduled presentation. Waters and snacks will be provided during the "social hour" and we will have a raffle (Potomac Pizza gift cards) for parents, grandparents, and guardians who attend. Free babysitting will also be provided in our library for those that need it.
