PSAT Day, Wednesday, October 16
Community Letter about PSAT 2024
Thomas S. Wootton High School
August 9, 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The PSAT will be administered districtwide on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The PSAT will be taken digitally only, with students accessing the assessment through the Bluebook application. The PSAT and SAT assessments are used to measure students' College and Career Readiness.
The PSAT will remain free to all Grade 10 students. Every Grade 10 student must participate and will automatically be registered for the test. However, Grade 11 students must pay the $17.00 fee and are encouraged to participate to obtain additional SAT practice and participate in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Only Grade 11 students must register for the PSAT/NMSQT assessment by paying the fee before Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Your payment will be your registration via School Cash Online (SCO).
Testing Time
The PSAT administration time is two hours and 14 minutes. In addition, 30 minutes will need to be allotted for preadministration to ensure that students' devices are ready for testing and for students to explore the Bluebook testing application. Students must test on a fully charged, MCPS-issued device.
Optional College Board Student Questionnaire- Consent Required
Students may opt-in to complete the optional College Board Student Questionnaire, which will occur before the testing day. To participate in the optional Student Questionnaire, parents/guardians must provide consent to participate in the survey. The survey opens up scholarship and postsecondary opportunities for students. Here is the consent form. Please print, sign the document in pen and return it to Ms. Teresa Daly, Secretary to Ms. Stephanie Labbe, in the main office or Ms. Labbe’s mailbox in the main office. We will not accept digital copies of the form.
Students will still participate in testing regardless of whether or not they provide their information to College Board.
If you have any further questions, please contact your child's school counselor or Ms. Stephanie Labbe regarding the PSAT assessment at Stephanie_C_Labbe@mcpsmd.org.
Sincerely,
Stephanie C. Labbe
Assistant Principal/PSAT Testing Coordinator
