Dear Wootton Families,

In February and March, MCPS families were notified that schools will conduct COVID-19 pool testing.   Pool testing helps to prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 virus in our schools.  Participating in school-provided COVID testing helps to identify cases where the student or staff member may not be showing symptoms.  We are pleased to announce that COVID-19 pool testing will begin at Thomas S. Wootton High School starting Monday, May 17, 2021. 

Tests will be provided for all students and staff on a weekly basis. Each swab will be placed in a common tube for that classroom or group and sent off to a central testing laboratory.  The test detects whether the virus that causes COVID-19 is present in that pooled sample. Schools will receive results within 2-3 days. 

If you would like your student to participate in pool testing at Wootton, we must have a signed consent form returned to Wootton High School.  Please complete the attached consent form.  Your student may return the signed consent form to the main office or it can be sent electronically to: Jennifer_Hicks@mcpsmd.org.  If you do not complete the consent form, your child will not be able to participate in testing.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.  Once again, completed consent forms must be returned prior to your student’s participation in testing.  Please contact your student’s grade-level administrator if you have any questions regarding testing.
