Morning Announcements - 2/22/18

Are you interested in being a Wootton Cheerleader? We will have a parent and student interest meeting on Monday, February 26th at 7:00 PM in the Media Center. Come and meet the coaches and hear about what it will take for you to be a part of this growing program.

 

This is a reminder to students taking an Advanced Placement (AP) class who want to take an AP exam. You need to register online. Registration opened January 29th and closes on Wednesday, February 28. You can register and pay online for your exam(s) at the same time.  You can order your exam at Total Registration.net or go through Wootton’s webpage under AP Exam Registration.  The registration process takes a few minutes to enter in all your important information. This is the last full week to register, so do not wait until the last minute.

 

Attention staff and students! Please join us for an evening of celebration on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:00 PM for our Black History Program! The program will be held in the Commons. Don’t miss it! A reminder for students who are participating in the Black History Program: Please remember to meet in your performance group locations during lunch TODAY.

 

The French Department is celebrating Black History month by inviting two speakers: Dr. Pfaff, retired professor from Howard University, will join the AP French Class to talk about her experience as a biographer/interviewer for the famous author from Guadeloupe, Maryse Condé, on Friday, February 23rd during 6th period in room 148.  Also, on Thursday, March 1st, Professor Marc Christophe, Haitian Poet and professor at Howard University, will be coming to read and talk about his poetry during the same AP French Class in 6th period room 148. Both lectures will be in French. All are welcome!

 

Congratulations to the following Wrestlers who qualified for the MPSSAA 4A-3A West Regional, MD Wresting Tournament: Jason Liau, Eric Liau, Jake Warner, Jason Peng, Alex Terskin, and Nick Guerra! The tournament is THIS weekend at Clarksburg High School. Wrestling begins at 5:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 AM on Saturday. Please come out and show your support!

 

Do you want to help the homeless? Do you need SSL hours? Come to room 106 after school on TODAY to make dinner for a local homeless shelter. Activity bus tickets are available. See you there!

 

Attention all students trying out for the Boys Varsity Tennis team! There will be a brief informational meeting after school TODAY in room 153.  Please come by to make sure you are on the list for tryouts and that you have all of your forms.  Don’t forget: quick tennis meeting after school on Thursday, February 22nd in room 153!  Be there!

 

This week is Midnight Madness Spirit Week! Tomorrow is “Team Thursday” and Friday is “Black Out Friday.” The week will culminate with Midnight Madness on Friday, February 23rd from 9:00 – 11:30 PM in the lower gym. Tickets will be sold at the door for $7.00.

 

The Cancer Awareness Club is partnering with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for a fundraiser. Please donate during lunch this week in the commons, the cafeteria, room 130, room 152, room 252, and room 280. All donations will go towards research for for blood cancers.

 

Are you interested in playing spring sports at Wootton?  If you want to participate in baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis, volleyball, or track and field, you must register by Tuesday, February 27th.  The registration and directions are located on woottonsports.com and must be completed by you and your parents together.  Remember the deadline to register is Tuesday, February 27th.
