I can’t believe this is our last week of school! Our students, staff and parents have all worked so hard to make the most of this unconventional year. I extend my sincere gratitude for everything that has been done to support our students this year. We are excited to welcome our students back to the 2021-22 school year for in-person instruction. We will use the summer months to prepare for our students’ return to school in the fall. Please note that Wootton’s summer office hours will begin on Monday, June 21st. The main office and counseling office will be open Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. The main office and counseling office will be closed each day from 12:00 - 1:00 pm for lunch.

Please join me in congratulating the following staff members who will be retiring: Ms. Jackie Alton, Dr. Lee Hirsh, Ms. Nia Cresham, Ms. Cel Rajter, and Mr. Harold Warren. I would like to thank all of our retirees for their dedication and significant contributions to Wootton. Congratulations and best wishes to all of our retirees!

NEWS FROM MCPS
Long-Range Plan Addresses Student Math Performance
Nationally, the COVID-19 pandemic has had the greatest impact on mathematics performance than any other content area. Intentional adjustments were made to the content and pacing of curriculum to adapt to the virtual schedule and to address unlearned content from the beginning of the pandemic. MCPS has developed a long-range plan to address this. More information is available below.

Support the 10th Annual Give BACKpacks Campaign
Join us as MCPS kicks off the 10th annual Give BACKpacks campaign to raise funds, and coordinate the distribution of backpacks and school supplies to students in MCPS schools.
For just $10, you can provide a student with a backpack filled with school supplies. MCPS places orders throughout the summer with a goal of providing as many students as possible with a backpack and school supplies at the start of the school year. June, July and August are critical months to place orders. MCPS has set a goal to raise $300,000 to purchase backpacks and school supplies for students across our school system. Help spread the word about this campaign by sharing the campaign flyer with colleagues, family, friends and community members. Every donation helps a student in need. Learn more about Give BACKpacks.
