The Parent Teacher Student Association

The PTSA is an organization of parents, teachers, and students that work together to support the Ridgeview community. La PTSA es una organización de padres, maestros y estudiantes que trabajan juntos para apoyar a la comunidad de Ridgeview.

    Hello Ridgeview Families!

PTSA has several important Advocacy Updates for the Closure / Consolidation discussion.

RMS PTSA has developed a template BOD letter and some closure meeting talking points to assist the community in advocating for Ridgeview to remain open following the MCPS closure / consolidation study. Even for parents with older students, it's important to keep in mind that any major changes or closures impacting Ridgeview or Lakelands would also have a large impact on Quince Orchard HS when it comes to capacity, staffing, class offerings etc.

Here are the best ways you can help!

    1. Write a letter to the BOE (emails are included in the google doc) asking them to keep Ridgeview open.
    2. Use any of our talking points and your personal experiences to fill out this survey - https://mcpsstudy.org/#/feedbackform/standalone before Nov 4th.
    3. Attend one or more of the community feedback meetings in each phase and use any of our talking points and your personal experiences to provide feedback.
    4. Plan to attend the meeting at Ridgeview Middle School on Dec 2nd from 6:30-8:30 pm if you are able.

We will continue to provide updates. Meeting dates and additional info on the study can be found @ https://ww2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/news/detail.aspx?id=420079.

    Upcoming Dates:
    • Oct 28th, Consolidations & Closures Meeting - Julius West MS, 6:30 - 8:30
    • November PTSA Meeting will be November 10th, at 7 pm. Zoom info to follow
    • Dec 2nd, Phase 2 Closure / Consolidation Meeting @ Ridgeview,  6:30 - 8:30 pm

    Schools Beyond Screens

One of our Ridgeview Parents has created a Whatsapp group for Ridgeview parents who are interested in discussing the topic of Schools Beyond Screens. They are working to advocate for less screen use in MCPS classrooms and for sensible technology/AI policies. If you are interested in joining, please feel free to join the conversation @ https://chat.whatsapp.com/HLFqg5Bu9ZzD5TVE2tsADK?s=cl&p=i&mlu=4&ilr=4&iam=2.
