2025–2026 Calendar Adjusted After Snow Days

On Thursday, Feb. 19, during its regular business meeting, the Montgomery County Board of Education adopted technical changes to the 2025–2026 school-year calendar following multiple weather-related closures in late January and early February. Learn more about why these changes are necessary, what is required by the state of Maryland and why the calendar may need further adjustments later this spring.
Key updates include:

Furture Events

  • The Bob Bucks store will be open to students during all grade-level lunches on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026.
  • On Wednesday, March 12th, there will be only two (2) activity buses running for the day. All drop-off routes will be split between the two buses. Please be patient, as there may be a slight delay in student drop-off as a result.
  • The Ridgeview Advanced Treble Choir and Chamber Choir will travel to Blair High School on Monday, March 16th for the District II Middle School Adjudication.  Both groups will perform for 3 judges and work with a clinician.  All black concert attire is required for this performance.  Students involved in the trip must turn in their permission slip by Monday, March 9th.  Reach out to Ms. Chiles at Katelyn_M_Chiles@mcpsmd.org if you have any questions!
  • On Tuesday, March 17th, at 9:00 a.m., our 8th-grade class will be taking their 8th-grade panoramic photo. We kindly ask that your 8th-grade student arrive at school on time and picture-ready! We thank you in advance for helping us capture this memorable moment.
  • Spring Picture Day is coming on Wednesday, April 8, 2026! Capture your child’s bright spring smile with beautiful, seasonal-inspired backgrounds that celebrate the colors and freshness of the season. Photos will be taken as three-quarter shots, meaning approximately three-quarters of your child’s body will be in the frame (typically cropped from mid-thigh to just above the head), creating a polished and timeless look. Families can choose from multiple spring-themed background options, giving you a variety of looks to cherish and share with loved ones. Pre-order today using Spring Picture Day ID: EVTFF3R9B. Don’t wait — pre-order your child’s photos before it’s too late!

Vison and Hearing Screening

In accordance with Maryland State Law students in Montgomery County Public Schools are screened for possible vision and hearing problems.  Trained hearing and vision screeners will be screening students new to MCPS, students in Grade_8_, and students referred by teachers because of possible signs of hearing or vision problems.  The screeners will be at Ridgeview Middle School on February 26th – March 3rd, 2026.  Children who do not see clearly or are unable to hear what their teacher and classmates are saying have a harder time learning at school. You will receive a referral form, via US mail, to take to your child’s doctor if your child fails the screening.  If your child is already under care for a hearing or vision problem, or you do not wish your child to be screened at school because of conflicts with your religious beliefs, please notify the school nurse in writing. If your child wears glasses or contacts, they should wear them every day and bring them to the screening. School based vision screenings may not detect every vision problem.  To learn more about possible vision problems and symptoms or health conditions that may require additional evaluation go to Montgomery County Government’s website at this link. Contact the school nurse if you have questions about your child’s screening, 240-740-3332.
