Maryland State Department of Education Potomac Elementary School Report Card
Welcome to Our School
Potomac Elementary School has a tradition of 91 years of excellence in education. Our Chinese Immersion Program has received national media attention. We are also an arts integration school where teachers develop expertise in integrating the arts with other instruction, such as social studies or science, and it is designed to help all students learn with more motivation and ease. Potomac Elementary School also was designated as a Maryland Green School and a National Geographic Eco School in 2014.
Second Annual National Geographic Geography Bee
The National Geographic Geography Bee is open nationally to students in 4th and 5th grades. This year’s National Geography Geography Bee will include all 4th and 5th graders at Potomac Elementary. The first half of the preliminary rounds will be held on January 7th during their reading and language arts classes.
After competitors are narrowed down to the top six winners in each class, the top four from each class will advance to the School Finals (24 total participants). The School Finals will be held on the evening of January 22nd. Alternates will be allowed to compete in the final if one of the top four class competitors is unable to compete, and these alternates should continue to prepare.
