Megan McLaughlin

School Principal

Professional Background

Ms. McLaughlin served as an English teacher in several Montgomery County Public Schools middle schools before helping open A. Mario Loiederman Middle School as a seventh-grade English teacher and team leader. She enjoys working in a creative and performing arts school because she believes the arts have an invaluable impact on students’ confidence and creativity. Ms. McLaughlin loves watching Loiederman students shine in the classroom and on the stage.

Carol fernandez

Assistant Principal & Magnet Coordinator

 

Professional Background

Ms. Fernandez has had the opportunity to serve MCPS in many different roles, but the heart of her work has always been the same: building relationships, supporting students and families, and making sure people feel seen, heard, and connected to their school community. As Assistant Principal and Magnet Coordinator, she is especially grateful to continue serving a school and community that mean so much to her. Whether you have a question, need support, or just aren’t quite sure who to ask, her door is open. Ms. Fernandez looks forward to learning, growing, and working together with the Loiederman community.

Eriel Jeffery

Assistant Principal

Professional Background

Ms. Jeffery has served students in Prince George’s County, Washington, DC, and Montgomery County Public Schools. Her experience includes teaching English and Spanish and serving as a special education teacher, Autism Resource Services Coordinator, Resource Teacher for Special Education, and assistant principal.

She is proud to serve the Loiederman community and is committed to creating a learning environment where all students feel valued, challenged, and motivated to excel.

Ashton Pontious

Assistant Principal

 

Professional Background

Ms. Pontious has served Montgomery County Public Schools in a variety of instructional and leadership roles. She began her career as an elementary teacher before joining Parkland Magnet Middle School, where she served as a mathematics teacher, alternative programs teacher, and assistant principal. She is excited to be part of the Loiederman community and is passionate about helping students succeed through opportunities to explore the arts and discover their strengths.
