Seniors! If you forgot to turn in your superlatives ballot, you must bring it Ms. Battle in Room 360 by Friday, February 10. Ballots received after Friday will NOT be counted.
Attention all students especially seniors: Completion of student service learning hours is a graduation requirement. If you have any questions or need help, please see Ms. Hellman in room 104A at lunch or after school.
Attention seniors- You senior fee is now $65. Please bring your cash or check to Mrs. Schreckengost in room 260 as soon as possible.
Seniors, If you need your mid-year grades sent to a college or university that you have applied to, please see Ms. Meneses in the Guidance Office and give her:
-a business size envelope, addressed to the college admissions office and no return address, with one stamp; and your first and last name written on the inside flap of the envelope.
The Grade 9 Breaking Barriers Essay Contest is a chance for students from all backgrounds to share their personal stories and show how they have used Jackie Robinson’s values to face their own barriers. Entries for this year’s contest are due February 21, 2012. The link for this contest is on the Wheaton website.
Seniors: Complete your FAFSA with CollegeTracks and Ms. Strasnick in the Media Center on Thursday night from 6-8 pm. Come to CollegeTracks--or visit the Wheaton website--to get information on what documents will be required to submit your FAFSA today!
Seniors: We're having an MC Application Party! Join us Tuesday after school and Thursday during lunch in the College and Career Center to complete your MC Application AND have delicious snacks!
The Annual Historically Black College/University (HBCU) Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15 at Blair High School from 6pm-8pm. Students in grades 9-12 and their families are invited to come learn more about HBCU's. For more information on how to register please contact your counselor, Ms. Strasnick or CollegeTraks.
Seniors: Come and meet our student scholarship mentors who will work with you to identify scholarships and help you get started on the process. They are in the College and Career Center on Mondays from 2:15-4:00 pm.
Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 are invited to take a career exploration test to hep you find out what careers match your strengths. The ASVAB career exploration test will be given over a 2-day period on February 14 and 15. Interested students should see Ms. Strasnick in the college and career center.
Attention staff and students: Key Club will be taking orders for the delivery of valentines during lunch each day until right before Valentine’s Day. Valentines will be delivered to your chosen one during 1st period on Valentine’s Day. The money raised will go to support Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
ATTENTION STUDENTS! Take the opportunity to attend the Academic Electives Opportunity Fair on February 8th in front of the cafeteria. Learn about the Advanced Placement classes that are offered here at Wheaton High School. The teachers and some students will be available to answer questions and share their insight. See Ms. Salvado in the Media Center for any questions.
Wheaton Knights our High School challenge has begun. From now until March 2 we will be raising money for the Pennies for Patients charity which funds research and helps children and teens with leukemia! Please help us reach our goal of $1000 dollars: buy a ribbon, come out for today's basket ball game, dedicated to this cause, or just simply donate. Good luck to all first period classes involved in the "first period battle". Go Knights!
The boys’ tennis team is still recruiting. Any boy interested in playing tennis this spring, please see Mr. Harrison in Portable 1 at any time as soon as possible for information. The season begins in less than one month.
• Attention all students: please come out to watch our varsity basketball teams battle it out with Watkins Mill on Tuesday evening in the main gym—boys play at 5:15 and girls play at 7. Student admission is $3. [Tuesday]
• Attention all softball players: there will be a softball planning meeting on Thursday February 9 at 11:45 am in room 325. All JV and Varsity players should attend, including all girls interested in playing this year—no prior softball experience is necessary. Come and meet your coaches and talk about the upcoming season.
Attention all baseball players: there will be a meeting for all boys interested in playing baseball this season—Thursday at the beginning of lunch in the Team Room, near the boys locker room. All are welcome!
