Counseling Announcements:
FREE College Test Prep for all Wheaton Students! Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to use the free online prep for the PSAT, SAT, or ACT. Students use their Wheaton HS login code to access the online test prep. In addition, Wheaton High School offers free lunchtime "crash courses" several days prior to each SAT/ACT test date, as well as a "lock-in" on the Thursday evening prior to testing. Free College Prep Classes at the Takoma Park Library: The Takoma Park Library, located at 101 Philadelphia Avenue,Takoma Park will host several college preparation evening events. Please call 301-891-7259 to pre-register for these free programs for college bound students and their parents, or on-line at www.takomapark.info/library/registration.html

Wheaton Family Connection
Family Connection is a web-baed tool used to research colleges, perform searches using selected criteria and build a resume. Students can see how their academic performance compares with the admissions requirements from specific colleges and how Wheaton students faired with admissions decisions. Furthermore, Family Connection can be used to maintain a list of colleges students are considering and link directly to the college or university’s website for additional information. Family Connection is also used as part of the college application process for 12th grade students.
You will need an Internet e-mail account to use Family Connection. Students may receive their special login code from Ms. Strasnick in the college & career center. Without an Internet e-mail account, you may sign on to Family Connection as a guest. The guest password is: wheaton20906
CAREER CENTER
Wheaton's College and Career Center is a resource room for career, scholarship searches, and college planning. The hours are 7am to 3:30 pm on school days. Students, faculty, parents and community members are welcome.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Free Hispanic College Fair Field Trip on November 10: Students in grades 10-12 are invited to attend a field trip to the National Hispanic College Fair at the Universities at Shady Grove, Rockville, MD. Students will have the opportunity to check out many colleges and universities from all around the country. Interested students should pick up a permission form in the college & career center.
Financial Aid Night on December 10 @ 7pm (snow date December 14): This informational workshop is suggested for all parents/guardians of 12th grade students. Melissa Gregory, Director of Financial Aid at Montgomery College, will be presenting. There will also be a separate presentation offered in Spanish
