6th Grade Social Studies Staff
Mrs. Pam Bailey
Mrs. Bailey is one of the 6th grade social studies teachers. She has taught at Redland Middle School for eighteen years and is the social studies department’s coordinator for the National Geographic Geography Bee.
Ms. Catherine Evans
Ms. Evans has taught at Redland for 4 years however she has been teaching in the county for 17 years. She has a Master’s Degree in Gifted and Talented and is currently working on her administration degree. Personally, she is passionate about social studies, geography and world politics and is enthusiastic about teaching Advanced 6th Grade World Studies.
7TH Grade Social Studies Staff
Mrs. Betty Combs
Mrs. Combs has been teaching 7th grade World Studies at Redland for thirteen years. She loves using technology to teach student about history, and geography. Mrs. Combs has worked on writing the new Advanced 7th curriculum, and implementing that curriculum at Redland. Mrs. Combs is also one of the Accelerated and Enriched Instructional Support Teachers (AEIST).
Mr. Michael Wheeler
Mr. Wheeler has taught at Redland for seven years. This year he will be teaching Advanced 7. Previously he has taught World Studies 6 and Advanced U.S. History 8 at Redland. Mr. Wheeler taught 7 years in Elementary school teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. He also coaches football at Quince Orchard High School.
8th Grade Social Studies Staff
Mrs. Andrea Goncher
Mrs. Goncher has experience teaching 6th and 7th World Studies as well as 8th and 9th grade U.S. History. This is her twenty-third year teaching at Redland Middle School. Along with Ms. Prandoni she was awarded the Washington Post Grants in the Arts in 1999-2000 and 2001-2002. She was previously SGA advisor for 12 years and MCJC advisor for 5 years. During that time Redland’s SGA won the Felix Simon Award for Leadership and Service twice. She was also selected in 2002 as MCJC advisor of the Year and the MASC Middle School Advisor of the Year. Ms. Goncher is the Social Studies department chairperson. She is looking forward to teaching Advanced U.S. History 8 this year.
