Jones2018 Learn About Ms. Jones, Principal

I am truly honored to be the principal of Stonegate Elementary School. I joined the Stonegate family in July 2014 and know firsthand that this is a school community where students come first and the staff believe all students can achieve at high levels. I appreciate the opportunity to work with amazing students, staff, and a supportive school community. I look forward to continuing the tradition of dedication and collaboration at Stonegate Elementary.

While my parents like to tell the story of how I was almost born in Germany, I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Morgan State University, a Masters of Education in Reading from Towson University, and a certificate in Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College. I am entering my 20th year in education serving students and communities. I spent ten years in the Howard County Public School System as classroom teacher and team leader and two years in Baltimore City serving as classroom teacher and as a reading coach. I am currently entering my 8th year in the Montgomery County Public School System, where I have served previously as a reading specialist, assistant principal, and principal Intern. I live in Columbia, Maryland with my husband and my new daughter Ava Rose. I enjoy shopping, going to the movies, snow tubing, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and most of all being with my daughter. I also love smoothies from Smoothie King. I am a huge basketball fan and my favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers.

As the principal of Stonegate, my professional mission is to ensure the success of all students. I will continue to work to foster trust and positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the entire school community. As someone who is learning and growing professionally daily, I look forward to the new challenges that this experience will bring. I am thrilled to be a Shark and I am riding the waves!!!
I can be reached at 301-989-5668. In addition, I am available through email at Linda_M_Jones@mcpsmd.org.

Thompson2018 Learn About Dr. Thompson, Assistant Principal

I am incredibly excited to be a part of the amazing staff at Stonegate Elementary.  Stonegate has a strong reputation for academic excellence and providing a diversity of experiences for students to learn and grow.  I have been inspired by a strong work ethic, a dedication to excellence, and a clear focus on doing what is best for children.  I look forward to working with the dedicated Shark Staff to provide the best possible educational program for our students.

This year is my twelfth year as a public school educator and my sixth year as an assistant principal. I have been fortunate to serve as an 8th grade teacher, a literacy coach, a middle school assistant principal, and, most recently, as an elementary school assistant principal in Tustin, California.  My family and I relocated to Maryland in January 2016. I believe in creating life-long learners and have practiced this in my own life by earning a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Fullerton and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

As I continue to adjust to East Coast living, I am thankful to join the amazing educators in MCPS and at Stonegate Elementary School. I am confident that, together, we can continue to create an environment where individual students can flourish and find their passion for success.

Please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Thompson if there is any way that she can be of assistance to you or your student.  She looks forward to meeting each of you and to having an amazing school year here at Stonegate!
