Event
PSAT Day
When: Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm
Where: Whole school event
Description:
On Wednesday October 15, 2025, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will offer the PSAT free of charge to all Grade 10 students (First Year of 9th Grade 2025) at each local high school. The PSAT is an essential measure of each student’s readiness for college and careers that many colleges and universities use in the admissions process. Offering the PSAT during the school day helps to remove barriers associated with college entrance examinations and ensures equitable access to these critical steps to college and career readiness. All grade 10 students are automatically registered for the test and are expected to participate.
The PSAT will also be offered to Grade 11 students who register and pay for the test. Grade 11 students are encouraged to participate to obtain additional SAT practice and participate in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The fee to take the test is $17. Please use this link to get information on how to register for the test. The deadline for registering and paying is Friday, September 19.
The PSAT administration is two hours and 14 minutes (standard testing time) and is administered digitally through the Bluebook application on your student’s MCPS issued Chromebook. Students will participate in a digital readiness check to ensure that devices are ready for testing as well as providing an opportunity for students to explore the Bluebook testing application prior to test day. During this digital readiness check, students will be able to participate in an optional Student Questionnaire. Parents/guardians must provide consent to participate in the survey. The survey opens up scholarship and postsecondary opportunities for students. More on the optional questionnaire can be found on the College Board’s website.
The make-up date for PSAT is on Thursday, October 23. Students will miss morning classes, however, this will be an excused absence with the ability to make up missed assignments.
More information will be forthcoming in terms of testing groups and logistical information as we approach the test administration.
If you have any further questions, please contact your child’s school counselor or our PSAT/SAT testing coordinator, Sara Baudry, at Sara_Baudry@mcpsmd.org.
