NEW! An invitation from Montgomery College to "Spend Spring Break with Us"  March 25-28, 2024.  Get ready for a move to Montgomery College? The MC Spend Spring Break with Us activities are designed to preview how Montgomery College can fit into after-high school plans.

During the week:

  • Sit in on classes
  • Visit our state-of-the-art nursing program simulation lab 
  • Tour campuses in Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring
  • Tour labs for automotive, building and construction, digital fabrication, and workforce technologies at our Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education (GITE)
  • Discover the student experience from current students
  • Join virtual information sessions on criminal justice, biotechnology, MC athletics, and Making a Smooth Transition to College

NEW! TOWSON UNIVERSITY TEACHER SCHOLARS SUMMER INSTITUTE, SUMMER 2024.  MCPS, in partnership with Towson University, will offer a four day residential summer experience to MCPS 25 rising 11th and 12th graders.  The program dates are Monday-Thursday, July 15-18, 2024.  This summer program is well matched to students from diverse backgrounds who are interested in careers in education.  There is no cost to students or their families to participate. Register by March 15, 2024 using this LINK.

During the TU Teacher Scholars Summer Institute, participants will:

  • Learn from TU faculty and earn 1 dual enrollment credit for the course, Exploring Careers in Education
  • Reside in a TU dormitory with all meals included
  • Participate in team building and recreational activities
  • Tour the TU main campus
  • Visit the TU student run on-campus preschool
  • Be eligible for a $600 stipend for the 4 day experience

Bus transportation from Rockville, Maryland to Towson University in Towson, Maryland will be provided.  Interested students must be available for all dates of the program and be comfortable with living on the Towson campus for 3 nights. MCPS chaperones will reside on site for the duration of the program. Should more than 25 students register, priority will go to students who have a high interest in becoming an educator or who are in an education pathway such as Child Development Associate (CDA) or Teacher Academy of Maryland (TAM).  Questions? The Montgomery County Commission for Women and Montgomery Women will host “A Virtual Career Exploration for Her,” a free virtual career guidance session for middle and high school female students from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.  The Zoom event is free, but registration is required. Students completing a brief survey at the event's conclusion can earn two hours of student service-learning (SSL) hours. The event will offer an opportunity for middle and high school female students to begin exploring careers of their interest and that are non-traditional for women. | Post 29 February 2024 |

Job Corps Resources:

  • RESOURCE:  Job Corps...  Learn what the Job Corps can do for you.  The training program is free, including housing if needed, and open to young people ages 16–24 who meet low-income and other eligibility requirements. Students go at their own pace in studying and training, learn employability skills, and earn credentials to start a meaningful career. Center staff are their support network every step of the way.

Montgomery College ARTSYS Transfer Resource:  Students planning to transfer to a 4-year postsecondary institution after MC are encouraged to use ARTSYS as part of their college planning.  ARTSYS is the State of Maryland Articulation Information web site.  ARTSYS shows which MC courses are recommended for transferring to specific Maryland college and universities.
