This year all 8th grade students will participate in National History Day in World Studies. National History Day is a project sponsored locally by the University of Maryland and is part of a nation wide competition. The objective of NHD is to encourage students to think critically and to conduct research, interpret primary sources and explore the larger historical significance of topics that interest them.  This year

Picking a subject and preparing a presentation. Be prepared to answer all of the following: 

Using a variety of resources, students will find information answering the following Essential Questions about their topic:

Project Topic - Remember that your topic must be from 1990 or earlier  

You must ask questions of –

  • Time and place
  • Cause and effect
  • Change over time
  • Impact
  • Significance

1. Why did events happen?
2. What impact did the event have??
3. What factors contributed to a revolution?
4. Why was there a need to reform at this particular time?
