Our Vision

MCTES is an actively anti-racist community of learners, who are respectful, responsible and kind.  We prioritize social-emotional well-being and engage in culturally responsive instructional practice to achieve equitable outcomes for every child, every day.

Our Mission

Our MCTES Mission is to…

  • Engage in culturally responsive instructional practices through the lens of anti-racism to support equitable outcomes for all students and the social emotional well being of all stakeholders
  • Empower students and families as worthy members of the MCTES community by fostering a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment where all voices are valued and heard 
  • Equip students, families, and staff with the tools to combat implicit bias and racism through continual self-reflection and intentional daily conversations

School Improvement Plan

Often referred to as SIP, the School Improvement Plan is designed to ensure that all of our students meet or exceed federal education requirements. Mill Creek Towne Elementary teachers and administration are working toward the following goals:

  • FY25 SIP Literacy Goal: By June 2025 at least 78% of our K-2 EML students will meet the academic milestone for literacy on their composite score in the spring. By June 2025 at least 76% of 3-5 EML students will meet the academic milestone for literacy on the MAP R assessment in the spring. Updated:  By June 2025 at least 72%  (up from 47.8%) of our EML students will meet ELA EOL targets. 
  • FY25 SIP Math Goal: By the end of 2024 - 2025, at least 75% of our  EML students will meet proficiency on the MAP Growth Mathematics  Spring assessment (from 60% -75%). Updated:  By June 2025 at least 75% (up from 33.9%) of our EML students will meet Math EOL targets.
  • FY25 SIP Wellness Goal:  By the end of 2024 - 2025, at least 82% of our students will be present for 91% of school days or more (from 75% to 82%).
  • FY25 SIP Culture/Climate Goal: By June 2025, 60% of staff will feel a sense of excitement and hopefulness to come to work each day.

Other Magruder Cluster Schools

Throughout MCPS, schools are arranged in clusters centered around one high school, with one or two middle schools, and several elementary schools. The elementary schools in our cluster are Mill Creek Towne, Candlewood and Flower Hill. The middle schools that feed into Magruder High School are Shady Grove MS and Redland MS.
