Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
When: Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Description:
This year's event will take place on January 13th and 14th. Inductees will meet with students during the school day on January 13th and will be introduced to the community between the varsity basketball games that evening; there will be an induction ceremony the evening of January 14th at Montgomery Country Club. This year's inductees are:
- Michael Collier
Michael Collier, class of 2008, was an LTI student. He has a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, and was the team leader for developing mRNA 1273 LNP which is the Covid-19 Vaccine. - Mary Elliott
Mary Elliott, class of 1984 is the founding Curator of the Slave Exhibit at The National Museum of African American History and culture. She holds a historical position in African American history, and her work is responsible for educating millions of Americans on the legacy of slavery. She has spoken at universities and colleges; her research and interviews are included in the course work at the University of Virginia and other institutions. She is renowned nationally and internationally as a historian of African American history. - Nadia Hansel
Nadia Hansel, class of 1990, is Associate Dean of Research and Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview. She is a pulmonary and critical care medicine physician, an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of obstructive airway diseases, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and care of patients in the Medical ICU. - Lewis "Loo" Katz
Lewis "Loo" Katz, class of 1972, was an on-air radio personality for forty-seven years here in the DMV. During his career, he spent ten of those doing the Afternoon Drive show at MIX 107.3, then moved to 97.1 WASH-FM, where he co-hosted the Morning Drive Show for fourteen years. He retired in 2017, and now runs Hound Radio, an internet-only station from his home studio. - Diallo Nelson
Diallo Nelson, class of 1988, was a celebrated basketball coach at Kennedy High School for 22 years and continues to educate students at the school today.
