The Damascus Social Studies department is dedicated to developing informed, engaged, and empathetic citizens who think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly in a diverse and connected world. We emphasize collaboration, equity, and real-world connections, ensuring students see themselves in the curriculum and understand multiple perspectives, especially through primary sources and current events.
We believe in the power of literacy and civil discourse, helping students express their views in both written and spoken forms. Rooted in strong relationships, responsibility, and determination, we foster a culture where everyone contributes to the growth of the department and the success of all students.
