Black-Eyed Susan Book Award Program
The students at Ashburton can participate in the Maryland Association of School Librarians' (MASL) Black-Eyed Susan Book Award Program.
Each year Maryland librarians select books which they hope will broaden the students' understanding of the human experience and will provide them with accurate and factual information.
Throughout the school year students read books from the lists (picture books for Kindergarten through third grades; fiction books for fourth through sixth grades) and in mid-April they can vote for their favorite one.
This year after a student reads one of the books, he/she will fill out a Black-Eyed Susan form which will be displayed in the media center.
