Vision and Mission

The Ashburton Elementary School Media Center is an essential part of a high quality education. The Media Center embraces its responsibility to promote the value of all libraries and is focused on providing a safe, respectful, responsible, and welcoming environment for staff, students, and the community.

Our mission is to prepare students to become independent critical readers, thinkers, and ethical information users. We encourage and foster the love of reading. We are dedicated to providing equitable access to information in multiple formats that develops the information literacy skills of our lifelong learners.

Circulation Policy  for 2022-2023

K & 1st Grades - 1 book

2nd - 5th Grades - 2 books

All materials must be checked out at the circulation desk. Students who have overdue materials may not check out other material until the overdue material is returned. Students may check out additional items for special projects/assignments with approval by the media specialist or the media assistant. All, with the exception of graphic novels, materials can be renewed unless the material is on hold for another patron.

Overdue & Lost Material

While we do not charge fines for overdue books students are responsible for the replacement costs of books lost or damaged beyond repair. Overdue notices will be distributed weekly or at least once a month to classroom teachers.
