Rocky Hill Student Earns Trip to National Spelling Bee
Clarksburg High School is teaming with the American Cancer Society again this year by sponsoring a Relay For Life night on May 16, 2015. Luminaria’s can be purchased to honor cancer survivors, or loved ones lost, to help fight the disease that claims so many lives each year. Click for more info and the Luminaria order form.

This past week teachers spent time holding a town hall with each of their classes to review the Rocky Hill expectations and procedures of 6th grade. As we move into our last quarter of 6th grade, it is important that students maintain their academic focus. We reviewed what it means to be prepared, respectful, involved, disciplined, and show effective effort. Click for more info and the presentation.
Congratulations to Raffae Chowdhury-he won the Montgomery County Regional Spelling Bee this past weekend! The winning word was "Pantheistic"! Let's cheer Raffae on as he studies to compete in the National Scripps Spelling Bee in May. Click here for more info.

As part of the 21st Century Learning Spaces MCPS initiative, all Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) staff and students received a Google Apps for Education account. Students and staff are assigned secured accounts and are able to access their accounts through any web-enabled device using any mainstream web-browser. The assigned student and staff accounts enable document sharing, collaborative work, and assessment opportunities in this cloud-based platform. For MCPS, students and staff are assigned an “@mcpsmd.net” Gmail-like account. Click for more info.
The Maryland Association of Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE) is pleased to announce that Rocky Hill Middle School has been certified as a 2014 Maryland Green School. Click for the complete article.
Students must maintain a 2.0 marking period average (MPA), with not more than one failing grade in the previous marking period, in order to participate in extracurricular activities during the next marking period. The MPA is not the same as the GPA. Click here for more info.
