Intramurals are held afterschool and are an extension of our Physical Education program. We offer a variety of sports after school from 2:50-4:15 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays throughout the school year. All intramurals are open to every 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student of any athletic ability. Activity busses are available to students after school if parent transportation cannot be provided.

Other intramurals that will be available throughout the school year include: Flag Football, Tennis, Field Hockey, Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, a 3v3 Basketball Tournament, Wrestling, Soccer, Softball, and Volleyball. Students should listen to the morning announcements for dates and times for upcoming intramurals.

In order to participate in any intramural throughout the school year, students must have a SIGNED PARENT PERMISSION SLIP on file with Ms. Brouillard. Permission slips can be found in both locker rooms, the main office, and on the Rocky Hill website under “Extracurricular Activities”. ONLY ONE PERMISSION SLIP IS NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL INTRAMURAL ACTIVITIES ALL YEAR!!! You do not need a permission slip for each activity! If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Brouillard at 301.353.8282 ext. 144 or via email at Melanie_J._Brouillard@mcpsmd.org.

Upcoming Intramurals

Attention all 6th, 7th, & 8th grade ladies…

Are you looking for something to get involved in this spring? We’ve got a lot of different opportunities for you to participate in in the month of May. Starting May 8th, Ms. Tippett will be having volleyball intramurals on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until May 24th for all girls interested in learning and improving their volleyball skills. On May 9th & 10th, Coach Natoli from Clarksburg High School will be holding a free field hockey clinic for all 6th, 7th, & 8th grade girls looking to learn a new sport. All you need is a permission slip from the girls PE office to participate. Ms. Engestrom will be continuing field hockey with an intramural on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from May 15th through May 24th. All ladies interested in participating in any of these opportunities will need a signed Intramural permission slip on file with Ms. Brouillard. Permission slips can be found in the girls locker room. See Ms. Brouillard, Ms. Tippett, or Ms. Engestrom if you have any questions.

Attention all 8th graders interested in trying out for high school sports next year:

Mr. Wilberding and Ms. Tippett will be running a sports-specific training intramural on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting April 10th, the day we return from spring break. This intramural is for 8th graders only, and will run through the month of April! Mr. Wilberding and Ms. Tippett will put you through training exercises that will help prepare you for what to expect at high school tryouts. They will also give you tips on what you can do over the summer to get ready for those grueling two-a-days in August. This intramural is highly recommended if you plan on trying out for any sport or athletic team in high school. You’ll need an intramural permission slip to participate. See Mr. Wilberding or Ms. Tippett if you have any questions.

Indoor soccer intramurals will begin Tuesday, April 10th and will meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the month of April. This intramural is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. See Mr. Robertson or Ms. Brouillard if you have any questions.

FIELD HOCKEY: Coach Natoli, the head varsity coach at CHS, will be hosting a 2-day Field Hockey Clinic to introduce our ladies to the game of field hockey on May 9th & 10th. All girls from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are welcomed to come out and participate. Sticks will be provided, and girls should wear sneakers, and come with a mouth guard, and shin guards if they have them. Students will need to see Ms. Brouillard or Ms. Tippett for paperwork before the clinic in order to participate.

To continue with the Field Hockey theme, Ms. Engestrom will be holding a Field Hockey intramural on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays on May 15-24 for all ladies interested in continuing to learn and play the game. Ms. Engestrom, who played for the US National Field Hockey Team, has many years of experience with the game and can teach you different aspects of the game.

VOLLEYBALL: There will be volleyball intramurals for all girls interested in improving their skills in the month of May. Starting May 8th, and meeting each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday through May 24th, Ms. Tippett will work with ladies in  6th, 7th, and 8th grades on their game awareness, skills, and game play.

If you have any questions about any of the upcoming intramurals, please see Ms. Brouillard. You must have a permission slip turned in in order to participate.
