College Career High School Visits:

Students are able to meet with representatives from colleges, vocational schools, the military, and various career fields at their high school location.  Visits are usually held in the College Career Information Center (Room 126) during the school day.  Students with a valid Family Connection account are able to sign up to attend visits through their Family Connection account.  Passes are required and students should follow the instructions during the visit sign up to print their pass.  Staff signatures are required.  Visit schedules run daily on JAG TV, Family Connection and our event Google Calendar.  Find out more...

New Scholarship Post Sherwood High School invites Northwest students and parents to their 9th Annual College Fair.  April 4.  6:30 to 8:30 pm.  The college fair is open to all students in both middle and high school.  There will be approximately 140 colleges, universities and technical/trade school represented.  Click here for the list.  The Sherwood College Fair is FREE.  Click here to download the information flyer with school address and details.  |web post March 21|

New Scholarship Post Northwest Class of 2017 Senior Exit Survey: Scholarships & Postsecondary Plans Due May 1!    Completion of this survey is a graduation requirement for Northwest seniors.  Scholarship achievements (name of scholarship only) will be printed in the 2017 graduation program along with a list of the postsecondary destinations of our graduates.  Scholarship data is reported to our Superintendent as required by the Maryland State Department of Education.  The survey is available to complete in Family Connection or using the Pen & Ink Version.  Click here to download online instructions and Pen & Ink Form.  Survey's must be completed and printed verification submitted to the College Career Information Center no later than May 1. | web post March 20 |

New Scholarship Post Montgomery College "Get Ready to Soar" Events!  Information sessions to help parents and students navigate and understand financial aid, placement testing, and college resources.  Event dates and campus locations are:  Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus at 5:30 pm on March 22, April 12 and May 24 | Germantown Campus at 4 pm (English) and 5 pm (Spanish) on March 29 and May 31 | Rockville Campus on April 7 and 10 am and 5:30 pm, May 4 at 5:30 pm in English and 6 pm in Spanish and May 16 at 5:30 pm.  Visit montgomerycollege.edu/futurestudents and click on "Events" to RSVP.  |web post March 7 |

New Scholarship Post Montgomery County College Fair for rising seniors.  Buses are FULL for the April 5th field trip!  Bus Rosters are available for students in the College Career Information Center, Room 126.  Field trip departure is 9:40 am in the cafeteria.  The fair will be held at the Montgomery County Agricultural Center.  Evening hours will be 6:30 to 8:30 pm on April 5th.  Students are not allowed to drive to this event during the school day.  |web update March 9|

Montgomery College Information: 

High school seniors applying to Montgomery College are encouraged to apply during the 'Application Fee Waiver' season (October 1 - April 15).  Seniors who would like to participate in the Accuplacer testing program with Northwest should be aware that it takes approximately 10 days for Montgomery College to generate the admission letters (mailed to the home) with the MC ID number required to take the Accuplacer.  | updated 14 Sept 16 |

Student planning to transfer to a 4-year post-secondary institution after MC are encouraged to use ARTSYS as part of their college planning.  ARTSYS is the State of Maryland Articulation Information website.  ARTSYS shows which MC courses are recommended for transferring to specific Maryland colleges and universities.  

NW + MC Early College Access with Dual Enrollment. Earning college credit during your senior year. Application begins during senior year class registration! Click here for program details.

Montgomery College (MC), supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the Graduate and Transfer Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Talent Expansion Program (GT STEP).  The program is designed to assist students who are majoring in STEM fields (biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering, or math) in acquiring their AA degree and/or facilitating their transfer to a 4-year college or university.  Program details and application can be found here.
