College Career High School Visits:

Students are able to meet with representatives from colleges, vocational schools, the military, and various career fields at their high school location.  Visits are usually held in the College Career Information Center (Room 126) during the school day.  Students with a valid Family Connection account are able to sign up to attend visits through their Family Connection account.  Passes are required and students should follow the instructions during the visit sign up to print their pass.  Staff signatures are required.  Visit schedules run daily on JAG TV, Family Connection and our event Google Calendar.  Find out more...

New Scholarship Post McDaniel College offers Admissions 101 Summer Workshop.  July 23.  A program designed to help students create their strongest college application before they actually begin to submit applications to any colleges!  Included in the workshop will be a review of the college essay, resume writing, college search and financial aid.  Students who attend this event will have their $50 application fee waived and will qualify to receive the McDaniel College Visit Incentive Grant (a $4,000 value over four years).  Register here to reserve your spot! | web post 18 May 18 |

New Scholarship Post The Fund for the Public Interest, Environmental Maryland Campaign Office has announced summer internships! Each year, millions of pounds of trash enter our streams, rivers, lakes and oceans.  In many cases, it's consumed by fish and birds and ends up in the food chain.  This summer, the Fund for the Public Interest is hiring students to join their staff to help mobilize public support for a statewide ban.  Paid, full time positions are available for students over 18.  Opportunities are also available for student interns to get hands-on experience in a grassroots campaign office!  Interns will help plan campaign events, work on media outreach and help the Fund for the Public Interest meet their goals.  Interested students can apply using this link.  Questions should be directed to Kelsey Lamp, Recruitment Director.  | web post 9 May 18 |

New Scholarship Post Free Program @ Williams College for Rising Seniors!   Windows on Williams (WOW) give high school seniors the opportunity to spend three all-expenses-paid days at Williams College.  The college is located in Williamstown, MA.  The program dates are September 20-22 or September 30-October 2.  WOW participants stay in dorms with current students, attend classes, meet with porfessors, and learn about the admissions process and the extraordinary financial aid program.  The application deadline is July 1 with a second deadline of August 1.  Questions about the program can be directed by email to wow@williams.edu.  Questions about Williams College can be directed by email to Ms. Stephanie Gonzalez, Associate Director, Diversity Recruitment.  Click here to register for the WOW program.  |web post 24 April 18 |

Montgomery College Information:

 NWHS Jaguar Paw  High school seniors applying to Montgomery College are encouraged to apply during the 'Application Fee Waiver' season that begins on October 1 and continues until April 15.  Seniors who would like to participate in the Accuplacer testing program with Northwest should be aware that it takes approximately 10 days for Montgomery College to generate the admission letters (mailed to the home) with the MC ID number required to take the Accuplacer.  | updated 28 Sept 17 |

Student planning to transfer to a 4-year post-secondary institution after MC are encouraged to use ARTSYS as part of their college planning.  ARTSYS is the State of Maryland Articulation Information website.  ARTSYS shows which MC courses are recommended for transferring to specific Maryland colleges and universities.

Montgomery College (MC), supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the Graduate and Transfer Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Talent Expansion Program (GT STEP).  The program is designed to assist students who are majoring in STEM fields (biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering, or math) in acquiring their AA degree and/or facilitating their transfer to a 4-year college or university.  Program details and application can be found here.
