College Career High School Visits:

Students are able to meet with representatives from colleges, vocational schools, the military, and various career fields at their high school location.  Visits are usually held in the College Career Information Center (Room 126) during the school day.  Students with a valid Family Connection account are able to sign up to attend visits through their Family Connection account.  Passes are required and students should follow the instructions during the visit sign up to print their pass.  Staff signatures are required.  Visit schedules run daily on JAG TV, Family Connection and our event Google Calendar.  Find out more...

Reminder Notice Image McDaniel College offers Admissions 101 Summer Workshop.  July 23.  A program designed to help students create their strongest college application before they actually begin to submit applications to any colleges!  Included in the workshop will be a review of the college essay, resume writing, college search and financial aid.  Students who attend this event will have their $50 application fee waived and will qualify to receive the McDaniel College Visit Incentive Grant (a $4,000 value over four years).  Register here to reserve your spot! | web post 18 May 18 | 

Paw Print TranZed Academy for Working Students (TAWS)!  The TranZed Academy is a new program for next year's high school seniors.  MCPS is implementing an apprenticeship program with 60 slots available.  Are you planning to work throughout your senior year?  Would you like to have a more flexible schedule so you can better balance your work and school schedule?  If so, the TranZed program might be a great fit for you.  Visit the TranZed Academy website for more information and to apply.  Please note the entrance requirements listed.  | 18 May 18 |

Montgomery College Information:

 NWHS Jaguar Paw  High school seniors applying to Montgomery College are encouraged to apply during the 'Application Fee Waiver' season.  Dates for the 2018-2019 application period TBD.  Seniors who would like to participate in the Accuplacer testing program with Northwest should be aware that it takes approximately 10 days for Montgomery College to generate the admission letters (mailed to the home) with the MC ID number required to take the Accuplacer.  | updated 25 June 18 |

 Student planning to transfer to a 4-year post-secondary institution after MC are encouraged to use ARTSYS as part of their college planning.  ARTSYS is the State of Maryland Articulation Information website.  ARTSYS shows which MC courses are recommended for transferring to specific Maryland colleges and universities.  

 NW + MC Early College Access with Dual Enrollment. Earning college credit during your senior year. Application begins during senior year class registration! Click here for program details.

 Montgomery College (MC), supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) has announced the Graduate and Transfer Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Talent Expansion Program (GT STEP).  The program is designed to assist students who are majoring in STEM fields (biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, engineering, or math) in acquiring their AA degree and/or facilitating their transfer to a 4-year college or university.  Program details and application can be found here.
