marking period and an early release day. The last class on Thursday
ends at 11:38 am, and then there is a brief student lunch period from
11:38 am to 12:00 noon. We have regular, full days of school on Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week. Please also remember to set
your clocks back one hour if you did not do it last night, as daylight
savings time ended this weekend.
Congratulations to Marching Band!
Congratulations to our marching band for placing 3rd
in the nation yesterday at the US Bands National Championship in
Pennsylvania. We are very proud of this tremendous accomplishment!

director; and all of the parents who have supported the band throughout
the competition season!

Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County: Requests Due by Monday, November 13
Holiday Giving Project of Montgomery County provides December holiday
assistance to families in need throughout our community. To request
assistance, there is a form that must be completed and returned to the
Northwest Counseling Office by Monday, November 13. The form is

Northwest Blankets Being Sold by the Music Department
Northwest Music Department is selling “NWHS Jags” embroidered fleece
blankets to raise funds for their spring field trip. Blankets are only

Montgomery County Flu Shot Clinic at Northwest HS: Thursday, November 9
Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is sponsoring
a free flu shot clinic for children between the ages of 3 and 18 on
Thursday, November 9, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the Northwest

MCPS Mental Health Fair: Monday, November 13
part of School Psychology Awareness Week (November 13‒17), the
Montgomery County School Psychologists’ Association is presenting the
first School Psychologist Mental Health Fair on Monday, November 13.
Students and families are invited to participate as school psychologists
from MCPS share skills and information on a variety of topics,
including yoga and mindfulness, early childhood development, sleep
hygiene, pet therapy, and coping skills. The event will be held from
5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, in the Carver Educational
Services Center Auditorium at 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville.
Learner’s Permit Test at Northwest HS: Wednesday, November 15
High School is very excited to be partnering with the Maryland Motor
Vehicle Administration (MVA) to offer the learner’s permit test at 3:00
pm on Wednesday, November 15, in the Northwest High School Auditorium.
Interested students must be at least 15 years and 9 months by November
15. Permission forms may be picked up in the main office and must be
returned to the main office no later than Tuesday, November 14.

future date to obtain an actual learner’s permit. However, we are
offering this service at Northwest to make it more convenient for
students to take the test in a familiar environment. If you have

Winter Sports Registration
sports tryouts start Wednesday, November 15, and registration this year

Parents must register their children by Monday, November 13, in order
for them to be able to try out on Wednesday, November 15. If you have
any questions about registering for winter sports tryouts, please

forms, and these forms will not be available online. Students should

baby ads are $25 and include a baby picture and a quote. Order forms
