Welcome to another great year at The Creek,
The 2011/2012 school year is just around the corner. We hope you have had some wonderful adventures this summer. We would like to welcome all the new families to Great Seneca Creek Elementary School, those entering Kindergarten and those just moving into the area. We are also excited to welcome back all our returning Bullfrogs.
Over the summer, your PTA has scheduled all our activities for the upcoming school year. Your PTA organizes and sponsors many activities for our children at The Creek throughout the year. Some of these activities include, after school clubs, classroom enhancements, Cultural Arts Programs, staff appreciation events, and support to our community. These activities and many more are paid for by your membership fees, and the fund-raising activities we do throughout the year. Last year we are happy to say that our membership grew by more then 25%, and we would like to keep this trend going this year.
There are many opportunities for you to lend your special talents and become involved here at Great Seneca Creek ES. It can be from taking a shift at the Fall book fair to becoming a committee chair, or helping our teachers out from home. Not only are you able to see your child in their school environment, but you are showing your child that you care about their education.
While you are checking out the new school website, take a moment and head on over to the PTA page. Here you can find the new PTA membership form, spirit wear form, the committee lists, and our event calendar. To help you get to know your PTA, we are providing pictures of each Executive Board member. As you are preparing for the upcoming school year, please take a moment to think of how you can lend a hand this year at The Creek. Your participation in the PTA gives you an opportunity to get involved with your child's education and be an active member of our great community.
We are very proud to be able to say that last year your PTA was able to help put Promethean boards into all the second grade classrooms. We would like to continue this trend into the first grade classrooms this year, but we need your help to do this. In the courtyard this year we are going to put a pathway between the Kindergarten wing and the Media Center, and we will also be planting a butterfly garden.
The PTA's Executive Board is excited about the upcoming year of events and fundraisers. Come and get to know your PTA Board members, stop by our tables at the Open House on Thursday, August 25th, the PTA Back to school picnic on Wednesday, August 31st, and the Back to School nights, (Monday, September 12th - 1st & 2nd, and Tuesday, September 13th for grades 3 - 5.) Come and check out the new introductions to our spirit wear line, a GSCES logo tumbler, and wind pants.
