Greg Edmundson, Principal

PrincipalAbout Mr. Edmundson

I am the proud principal of Great Seneca Creek Elementary School (Est. 2006). The work we began five years ago continues to motivate and inspire me. As a community, we have united to create a Professional Learning Community, sharing the vision of high levels of student achievement for all of our students.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I earned my undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University. I earned my Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. I have spent my entire 19-year career in MCPS, serving students as a classroom teacher (at the elementary and middle school levels) and as an administrator. I was the assistant principal of Brooke Grove ES in Olney before completing my internship at Brown Station ES in Gaithersburg. I had been the principal of Darnestown Elementary School from 2002-2006.

My wife and I live in Germantown, MD with our three children. We enjoy spending our time together bike-riding, camping, and playing the guitar near any campfire we can find. We are huge Steelers fans!

My goal has been to build excellence at Great Seneca Creek Elementary through rigorous instruction, focused collaboration, and effective communication. I believe you accomplish this by hiring excellent staff and allowing them to do what they do best – teach children. A world-class staff and a committed parent community can do amazing things for children. We’re experiencing that here at The Creek.

Assistant Principal About Mrs. Jones

I am truly honored to be the new assistant principal of Great Seneca Creek Elementary School. In the short time since I joined the Great Seneca Creek team, I have seen first hand that this is a school community where students come first and the staff believe all students can achieve at high levels. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with amazing students, staff, and a supportive school community.

I look forward to continuing the tradition of dedication and collaboration at Great Seneca Creek Elementary. While my parents like to tell the story of how I was almost born in Germany, I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Morgan State University, a Masters of Education in Reading from Towson University, and a certificate in Administration and Supervision from McDaniel College. I am entering my 16th year in education serving students and communities. I spent ten years in the Howard County Public School System as classroom teacher and team leader and two years in Baltimore City serving as classroom teacher and as a reading coach. I am currently entering my 4th year in the Montgomery County Public School System, where I have served previously as a Reading Specialist. My husband and I live in Bowie, Maryland with our dog Marie. I enjoy going to the movies, spending time with my family and friends, and vacationing on the beach. I also love smoothies from Smoothie King. I am a huge basketball fan and my favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers.

I am very excited about my new journey as acting assistant principal. My professional mission has been to ensure the success of all students, and I will continue to work to foster trust and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the entire school community. As someone who is learning and growing professionally daily, I look forward to the new challenges that this experience will bring. I am thrilled to be a Bullfrog and I am jumping on board!!!
