General Information 

General Hours 7:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday - Friday 

Services:  Books, audiobooks, periodicals, Internet access (MCPS compliant usage only) and online research databases are available to all students.  Personal e-mail access for school work only is available with permission. Student ID cards are required for checking out materials. Materials are checked out for one month, after which a 10¢ per day fine up to the replacement cost of the material is assessed and entered as a student obligation.

Printing and Copies: Black & white printer is free up to 10 pages -- 10¢ per page thereafter 
Color printer is $1 per page

Black & white copier available for 10¢ per page

Passes:  Students must have a signed agenda book or general use pass for admittance to the Media Center during scheduled class time.  Students must sign in during all access times.

Policies:  No food or beverages are allowed at any time.

 

Mission 

The mission of the CHS Media Center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.  This mission is accomplished:

  • By providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats;
  • By providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas; and
  • By working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of classes and individual students.

  • 2010-2011 Black-Eyed Susan Book Award Nominees

    The Black-Eyed Susan Book Award is a children's choice award for the state of Maryland. Each year since 1992, the Black-Eyed Susan Book Award has been given to authors and/or illustrators of outstanding books chosen for the award by Maryland students. The award seeks to promote literacy and lifelong reading habits by encouraging students to read quality, contemporary literature.
