Welcome to a new school year! I have spent almost my whole career at Briggs Chaney MS. This is year twenty-five for me at BCMS. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Human Development with a focus on Adolescent Development, and I recently obtained a Certificate in Administration and Supervision. I am excited about the expansion of the new Bridge Program this year and look forward to working with students, parents, and staff toward maximizing student potential and developing independent 21st century learners.

 Ms. Ani Aghguiguian, Physical Education/Health email

Hello BCMS! My name is Ani Aghguiguian and I am the Bridge Physical/Health Education teacher. This is my second year teaching PE and Health as well as my second year teaching in the county. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Kinesiology in 2014. I then received my graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction in June of 2016, with a focus on PE. I am also the Bridge PE teacher at Paint Branch High School where I coach Volleyball and Unified Bocce. I am looking forward to having a great year with our students! Go Bears!

Hello! My name is Tim Brown and I am entering my first year within Montgomery County Public Schools. I have previously worked in Charles County, Staunton (VA), and Colorado Springs. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University, followed by M.A. and Ed.S. Graduate degrees in School Psychology from James Madison University. I also received the Maryland Administrator I endorsement from Towson University. Specific areas of professional interest and exploration include Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and medication efficacy, socialized v. "unsocialized" delinquency, response to intervention (RTI) initiatives, and alternative education programming. I spend my free time with my beautiful family and when time allows, I love playing golf and running. I am very excited to be in MCPS and to be a part of the Bridge team at Briggs Chaney Middle School!

Hello Briggs Chaney! This is my first year at BCMS in the Bridge Program and 15th teaching Special Education (9th with MCPS). I hold a Master's Degree in Special Education from Loyola College.  I am an avid outdoorsman, I love fishing, sports and my family.  I am looking forward to having a great year and working with the students and staff here at Briggs Chaney.

I am happy to say that this is my 20th year working as a special education para-educator at Briggs Chaney Middle School. I am excited this year with the expansion of our Bridge Services Program and all of our new staff.  I am looking forward to a great new school year.  In addition to my role as a para educator I am also the serving as the Bridge Secretary.   I grew up in Rockville and attended Montgomery County Public Schools. I hold a Bachelor's degree in education from the University of Maryland in College Park.

Hello and welcome to all of our new students and parents of Bridge students attending Briggs Chaney Middle School this school year.  I received my B.A. in Social Work from Frostburg State University and my M.S.W. from the University Of Maryland School Of Social Work with a concentration in Children and Families. I have been in the social work field for eleven years and strive to establish partnerships with students, parents, teachers, and community organizations to support each student’s academic and social/emotional growth. I am also very excited to partner with Therapy Dogs International (TDI) to institute a visiting dog therapy program at BCMS this school year!

My name is David Chrismer and this is my second year teaching at Briggs Chaney Middle School.  This is also my second year in MCPS after spending six years teaching in Baltimore City Public Schools.  I am certified in Special Education with additional certifications in Secondary English and History.  I have also had experience serving as an IEP Chair and a Transition Monitor.   In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, reading, following my Baltimore sports teams, DJ-ing special events for friends, and playing music.

Hi BCMS! This is my second year at Briggs Chaney Middle School, and I am excited to continue working with the Bridge staff, students, and parents! I am a recent graduate of Mount St. Mary's University, with a Bachelor's degree in Special Education. I look forward to teaching Math 6 and 7 again this year, with the addition of Math 8 and a section of Social Skills!

I am new to the Briggs Chaney MS staff this year. This is my 5th year teaching. Prior to BCMS, I taught in Howard County. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University and am currently working on my Master's degree in Assistive Technology. I am excited to be a BCMS Bear and part of the Bridge team. I look forward to working with students, parents and staff as partners in learning. We have a year here, Let's make it a great one!

Hello everyone my name is Kamal Mayers. I'm excited to be returning for my second year as a Bridge Paraeducator. I'm currently pursuing a Sports Management degree from Ashford University. I enjoy traveling abroad, sports, food and officiating basketball. I have enjoyed supporting the Bridge Program here at Briggs Chaney and look forward to continuing to build great relationships with all students.

My name is Nancy Miller and I'm excited to join The Bridge Team at BCMS as a Paraeducator.  Prior to this year, I have worked 19 years in MCPS at Rosemont elementary school. My last 8 years were with the Comprehensive Autism Preschool Program.  I received a MA in College Student Personnel and a BS in Speech Pathology and Audiology - long ago - but they serve me well working with students. Outside of school I can be seen in Zumba classes, on tennis courts or alpine ski slopes.  I love to play in the dirt  gardening and landscaping.

My name is Jason Schmorr and I am a Paraeducator at Briggs Chaney Middle School. This is my third year working as a Paraeducator in MCPS. I am originally from Rye, NY. I relocated to Maryland three years ago. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physical Education at St. Andrews Presbyterian University in Laurinburg, NC. I am married to my beautiful wife Jenn, who is an ESOL teacher in MCPS. In my free time, I enjoy sports, traveling, hiking, attending concerts, and spending time with my family.

Hi everyone! I am a 2011 graduate of Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in History and Women's Studies. In my spare time, I love making music and playing the saxophone. I also recently adopted 2 tabby kittens and am not shy about sharing cute pictures of them (so don't hesitate to ask). I have spent the last 3 years of my career working as a Special Ed. and LAD paraeducator at Banneker Middle School but now I am ready and excited to start this new chapter here at Briggs Chaney!

Hello!  My name is Heather Strauss and I am the Behavior Support Teacher for Bridge Services at Briggs Chaney Middle School.  This is my second year supporting the program.  I have a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education from Bradley University, a Master's of Arts in Education and Human Development, and an Administration and Supervision Certificate from Hood College.  I am excited to be working with students, families and staff again.

This is my 7th year in MCPS and my 1st year at BCMS working in the Bridge Program as a Special Education Para Educator!!  I’ve lived in Montgomery County all my life and have three wonderful children, two that have graduated from MCPS and one still in middle school.  I have a certificate in Human Resources from Montgomery College.   I’ve coached for over 6 years with my MSI soccer girls soccer team.   I’m looking forward to an exciting new year!!
